Breakfast
A traditional Turkish breakfast includes, bread, white cheese, eggs, olives and spicy sausages along with honey turkish cuisine and recel- similar to marmalade and a cup of Turkish tea.  The newer generation, however are turning to the fast food choice of breads and pastries, usually with ayram, which is a liquid yoghurt drink.

Soup is the usual favourite; the most common types are yoghurt, lentil, wheat and chicken with almonds.  As well as the mezze (Turkish appetizers), made for sharing and a selection of salads to choose from very much in Greek style. But if soup or salad isn’t for you, I’m sure turkey’s famous  doner kebabs are. The most common way Turkish people dine for dinner is with lots of little plates of appetizers (mezze) this includes- Fish, stuffed vine leaves, olives, couscous, pickles and more.  You can alsturkish cuisineo have a taste of turkey’s most popular meat-lamb, which is prepared in many ways. Meatballs are very popular too; they are served with sauces such as yoghurt and tomato.
Desserts
For a delightful pudding, Turkey has excellent fresh fruit, freshly made sweets, and sugary pastries made with filo pastry like the delicious baklava, made up of dozens of layers of pastry. It’s syrupy, nutty, and very sweet.
Drinks
Tea (çay) is drunk throughout the day, everywhere and at anytime. It is the national drink and is offered everywhere you go, restaurants, homes and even in shops, as this is considered to be respectable and a sign of friendship.  The favourite to most tourists is the tasty apple tea, served in a crystal glass and very sweet.  As for the alcoholic drinks, Turkey’s best is anisette tasting raki, drunk to accompany the mezze. Usually water is added to the raki which becomes cloudy (known as lion’s milk) but only 50% should be added or you will spoil the taste.
