The Turkish language is spoken by over 80 million people worldwide; 74 million people around the world speak Turkish as their native language. Turkish is the official language of both Turkey and Cyprus. The Turkish language is also spoken in minority groups in Iraq and all over Europe such as Bulgaria, Greece, The Republic of Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania.
Before 1928, the Turkish alphabet was the same as the Arabic alphabet. However, this changed in 1928, when it became more Latin influenced.
The Turkish alphabet is now more phonetic compared to before and contains 21 consonants and 8 vowels.
There are other differences between the Latin English alphabet and the Turkish alphabet. One of these differences is that the letters Q, X and W do not appear in the Turkish alphabet.
Both languages share the fact that neither language has genders. Many other European countries surrounding both England and Turkey have genders in their languages, Turkish and English do not. Turkish shares no similarities to any other Indo-European language at all. The Turkish language only contains a few words taken from the French and English language.
