Turkey has come out as a real hotspot for tourists this summer. Travel supermarket place Turkey number two in their top ten list of best value holiday destinations this year. Many seeking holidays are also choosing all inclusive holiday deals to cut costs and ensure they don't overspend. It's one thing to choose a cheap holiday but it's even more important to know how much money you'll need when you're there!

Hubpages also places Turkey in their top ten, saying that the country is becoming more popular every year with it's heady mix of sun, sand, sea, culture and history. Whilst younger holiday makers are arriving in numbers, Turkey offers many atractions for the whole family and is considerably more affordable than the old stalwarts of France or Spain. In the main this is due to the natural beauty of the country, the unspoiled beaches and excellent value.

Although holiday makers may be more price oriented this year they are certainly not giving up their holidays. From research by Visitbritain, figures show that a huge 80% of Brits are even going to spend less on their normal food bills just to get enough money for a holiday.

Globally the tourist industry is in shock, reducing prices and after every penny they can. This means there is no better time to book a holiday as there are some fantastic discounts and deals, with hotels slashing prices just to fill beds.

Tips for a cost-cutting Turkey holiday

- Look for where the locals eat - you'll get more for your money and have such fun  - or go self catering and buy local food in the markets

- Turkey's beach resorts have always attracted visitors but you might want to discover and explore inland. Use cheap public transport rather than hiring a car.

- Resorts where the locals go are usually cheaper than those filled with your compatriots; both accommodation and eating out will be less

My experience

Mark and Amy, from Lancashire, visited Turkey earlier this year, never having been before.
